Galaxy S25 Edge apparently more successful than Plus models in Europe
Samsung's thin Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone may not turn out to be a bestseller, but according to market researchers, it is more successful than the Plus series.

Market researchers from Counterpoint have published an analysis of sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge after the first week of sales in Western Europe. This shows that the ultra-slim smartphone may not be an absolute bestseller, but it is selling better than the Galaxy S25 Plus.
Not a bad start for the S25 Edge in Western Europe
As Counterpoint writes, the initial sales figures for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge indicate that it is more successful than the Plus version, at least initially in Western Europe. In the first full week of sales, the S25 Edge outperformed all Plus variants after the Galaxy S21 Plus, which was released in 2021.
The Plus variant of Samsung's Galaxy S series has not had a particularly easy time in recent years, as most European consumers would have chosen the Galaxy Ultra or the base model. The Galaxy S25 Edge with its ultraslim design – but also thanks to attractive trade-in offers – seems to be the solution to Samsung's Plus weakness, speculates Counterpoint.
According to Jan Stryjak, Associate Director at Counterpoint, the S25 Edge seems to succeed where the last Plus models failed, with "significantly better specifications, an attractive new slim form factor and an only slightly higher price".
Not as successful as the S25 Ultra
Stryjak says that it is still too early to say whether the S25 Edge will be a success or a flop. He predicts "that the high price of the Galaxy S25 Edge will cause sales to drop off quickly once the first buyers have purchased their device." What the market researcher may be ignoring, however, is the sometimes massive price drop for Samsung devices: the S25 Edge is already being offered at some retailers for well under 900 euros – several hundred euros less than the manufacturer's recommended retail price of 1249 euros.
Compared to the other models in the current Galaxy S family, the S25 Edge is still less popular than the S25 and S25 Ultra. The Galaxy 25 Ultra is also one of the best-selling smartphones in Germany and other countries, Counterpoint states – but behind the iPhone 16 series models.

More slim devices on the way
The market researchers assume that the slim form factor will be a topic to keep an eye on this year. In addition to the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung will give the Galaxy Z Fold 7 a slimline makeover, making its foldable similar in thickness to a classic smartphone when folded. A trend that some Chinese manufacturers such as Honor and Oppo are also pursuing.
Moreover, according to rumors, Apple will also launch an "Air" version of its iPhone 17 series on the market. The thin smartphone could replace the iPhone manufacturer's Plus model in the medium term, which, like Samsung's Plus devices, is not very successful. Samsung reportedly has similar plans for its Edge.
