Current desktop CPUs from AMD and Intel are getting cheaper

Desktop processors from the current AMD Ryzen 9000 (CPU version AM5) and Intel Core Ultra 200S (CPU version LGA1851) series are currently available at low prices. Amazon has discounted numerous models as part of a special offer – which is called Prime Day, but lasts for four days until July 11. Other retailers have successively lowered their prices over the past few weeks.

Amazon is reducing the prices of all Ryzen 9000X processors without extra cache (X3D). As a result, the 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X (starting from 512,83 €) has fallen in price by eight percent. The six-core Ryzen 5 9600X (starting from 191,97 €) entry-level model lands below the 200 euro mark – here Mindfactory and Notebooksbilliger have followed suit in price.

The 9000X3D models have become cheaper in recent weeks, regardless of promotional offers. The top model Ryzen 9 9950X3D no longer costs 700 euros (starting from 648,95 €). The price of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D (starting from 433,20 €) has fallen by six percent. With its eight fast CPU cores and large cache, it is particularly suitable for gaming PCs.

Core Ultra 7 265K drops more than average

The biggest saving is on the Core Ultra 7 265K (starting from 279 €), but only temporarily at Amazon. Compared to the previous month, the price has fallen by almost 15 percent to around 265 euros. This makes the processor cheaper than many of its sister models, including the Core Ultra 5 245K and Core Ultra 7 265F. As a result, the Core Ultra 7 265K is currently Intel's most attractive desktop processor.

The top model Core Ultra 9 285K (starting from 485,90 €) costs just over twice as much, but only has four more efficiency cores (16 instead of 12), clocks up to 200 MHz higher (5.7 instead of 5.5 GHz) and has 6 MByte more level 3 cache (36 instead of 30 MByte). Meanwhile, the cheapest model in the Arrow Lake family, the Core Ultra 5 225F (starting from 147,90 €), falls below the 200 euro mark for the first time.
