These 10 VR games show how diverse virtual reality can be
The "UploadVR Showcase Summer 2025" had over 50 VR games in store. We present ten exciting titles that provide variety in VR glasses.
The physics-based constructions from "Besiege" will soon be coming to virtual reality.

At UploadVR's summer showcase, indie studios and established developers presented more than 50 new titles and updates for existing VR and mixed reality games. We took a closer look at ten particularly interesting projects – from retro homages to sci-fi horror and creative crafting worlds.
Hidden Memories of The Gardens Between
"Hidden Memories" brings the award-winning puzzle adventure game "The Gardens Between" to virtual reality for the first time. Players move the protagonists Arina and Frendt through imaginative landscapes of their childhood memories, controlling time and the environment using hand movements. The developers have added over 40 new physics-based puzzles to the original game. "Hidden Memories of the Gardens Between" is scheduled for release on August 7, 2025 for Meta Quest and SteamVR.

Dreams of Another
In a new trailer, developer Baiyon presents the gameplay of "Dreams of Another", a VR game in which destruction is interpreted as a creative act. Shots create the environment instead of destroying it. In addition to the philosophical approach, the unusual art design is also striking. The levels consist of point clouds, i.e. floating pixel structures, which are intended to look particularly vivid in VR. On their way through the game world, players encounter all kinds of quirky characters and talking everyday objects that comment on social issues. "Dreams of Another" is due to be released for PlayStation VR2 in 2025.

Vivarium
"Vivarium" invites you to create your own mini-ecosystems as aquariums or terrariums to learn about ecological relationships in a fun way. Plants, animals and decorative elements can be combined to create living habitats. The developers have integrated 18 marine species, 10 types of algae, and numerous design elements such as corals and figures. A mixed reality function projects finished creations onto real walls. "Vivarium" is already available for Meta Quest and Pico and is set to receive an extensive update this summer with various marine fauna and flora.

How to God
Berlin-based studio Thoughtfish is launching "How to God", a god simulation for Meta Quest. Whoever controls the game influences civilizations, responds to prayers or provokes uprisings. A changeable companion serves as the mouthpiece of the divine figure. The developers are taking concepts from classic god games such as "Black & White" and combining them with direct physical interaction in VR. Anyone wishing to join the closed beta test phase can register via the studio's Discord server. The game is due to be released later this year for Meta Quest.

Virtual Skate
"Virtual Skate" brings the feel of "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" to virtual reality. However, the virtual skateboard is not simply controlled by pressing buttons and using a joystick. Each hand controls one end of the board directly, similar to fingerboarding.
Videos by heise
Up to four people can skate, film tricks and create replays online at the same time. Complete control over the board should allow individual trick variations without predetermined animations. Customizable clothing and skateboards as well as timed races will also be available when "Virtual Skate" is released for Meta Quest and PC VR. A playable demo is already available on Steam.

Grit & Valor – 1949
"Grit & Valor – 1949" combines real-time tactics with roguelite elements. Developer nDreams transports players to the year 1949 in an alternative Europe. As a general, you command units using hand gestures and fight against an overpowering Axis power. The campaign takes place in several stages in which resources are managed and units are improved. The game will be released for Meta Quest, PS VR2 and SteamVR. An exact date has not yet been set.

Defeat VR
3R Games is bringing a VR version of the physical strategy game "Besiege" to Meta Quest this summer. War machines such as catapults or mechs can be constructed from over 70 components. The user interface has been specially optimized for VR. If you already own Besiege on the PC, you can import some of your creations into the VR version. However, there are limitations due to the hardware performance of standalone VR goggles. In addition to 50 campaign levels, the game also offers three sandbox environments.

Sky Runner: Drone Hero
The mixed reality game "Sky Runner: Drone Hero" will be released on July 31, 2025 for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Players control a minidrone through their scanned living room, destroying virtual guns and rescuing targets. Virtual objects are placed on real furniture and walls. An FPV screen also shows the drone's perspective with aiming aid.

Elsewhere Electric
"Elsewhere Electric" combines VR with the smartphone in an asymmetrical co-op design. One person takes on the role of the technician in the field in the headset, while the other coordinates "from the van" via mobile device. Players have to communicate with each other precisely to get a decommissioned power station back into operation. "Elswhere Electric" will be released on July 23 for Meta Quest and SteamVR.

Memoreum
With "Memoreum", Patient 8 Games and 2080 Games are delivering a sci-fi horror shooter that is stylistically very similar to "Dead Space". In the year 2311, players fight against mutated crew members in a contaminated spaceship, who, like the original, are relieved of their weak points.

In between, frightening moments must be overcome, puzzles solved, and data logs found to uncover the story. The release is planned for October 9, 2025 on Meta Quest and SteamVR.
