Even more new content for Cyberpunk 2077: A year and a half after the “last major update,” CD Projekt has announced version 2.3, another new patch for the action role-playing game, which is scheduled for release on Thursday. The long-awaited Mac version will also be released on Thursday.
CD Projekt announced the Mac version of “Cyberpunk 2077” at the end of 2024. It was originally scheduled for release in early 2025, but Mac gamers had to wait a few months longer. CD Projekt has published the system requirements in a support post. To play “Cyberpunk 2077” on a Mac, you need at least macOS 15.5 and 92 GB of storage space if you purchase the game via Steam, Epic, or GOG. Curiously, because all voiceovers are downloaded via the Apple Store, this version requires 159 GB of storage space.
Graphics preset “For this Mac”
Developer CD Projekt lists an M1 chip and 16 GB of RAM as the minimum hardware requirements for Cyberpunk 2077. This configuration should be able to handle 1600x900 pixels at 30 FPS. Better processors with more RAM can also handle more pixels and frames per second. The game has a “For this Mac” preset that adjusts the graphics quality and resolution to the specifications of your hardware.

In all possible “For this Mac” setting combinations, ray tracing is disabled for performance reasons, CD Projekt writes in another support entry. If you like, you can manually enable the graphics feature. However, CD Projekt recommends a maximum ray tracing quality of medium with reduced resolution even on the Mac configuration with an M3 Max chip and 36 GB of RAM. The even more intensive path tracing is therefore unlikely to be feasible for Mac computers.

Patch 2.3 with Autopilot
CD Projekt had actually announced Patch 2.1, released in December 2023, as the final update for “Cyberpunk 2077.” Patch 2.2 was released later, and now there is even a patch 2.3. Like the previous update, it was probably developed mainly by the service provider studio Virtuos, because the CD Projekt development team has long since moved on to new projects such as “The Witcher 4.”
The biggest new feature in Patch 2.3 is an autopilot function that allows players to be chauffeured to their destination in Night City in any vehicle. In addition, there are three new cars and a new motorcycle, which will be integrated into the game via small quests. Digital photographers will also be delighted with new features for the photo mode. AMD players will also receive support for FSR 4. CD Projekt has published the complete changelog.
