Spotify: 15 hours more audiobooks for 9 euros a month
For several months, the Spotify subscription also included twelve hours of audiobooks per month. A new subscription option offers 15 hours per month for €9.

Anyone who wants to listen to audiobooks intensively on Spotify now has a new subscription option in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland: with the additional option “Audiobooks+,” users can listen to an extra 15 hours per month. Together with the twelve hours included as standard, this results in 27 hours of listening time per month.
To be able to subscribe to the additional “Audiobooks+” option, you must first have a Premium subscription. The additional option then costs an extra 9 euros per month. Together with the Premium Individual subscription, you pay 20 euros per month to be able to listen to unlimited music and 27 hours in the Spotify audiobook library.

Audiobooks: Spotify vs. Amazon
An alternative to Spotify is Amazon's music streaming service Prime Music, which has allowed users to listen to one audiobook from the Audible catalog per month since June. Amazon's approach works slightly differently to Spotify: users can listen to one audiobook per month from the Audible catalog, regardless of the length of the audiobook. A new audiobook may only be started in a new subscription month. If you do not finish your audiobook in one month, you can continue listening to it in the second month but may not start a second audiobook in that month.
Amazon Music Unlimited costs 11 euros per month as standard, while Prime customers only pay 10 euros per month. So if you plan your audiobook consumption carefully, you can get better value for money with the Amazon solution than with Spotify. In contrast, the Swedish streaming service offers the advantage of flexibility with its audiobook model, such as the option to try out several audiobooks per month.
Audiobook fans also have the option of booking an audiobook subscription with Amazon. This is particularly suitable for people who are not interested in music. The Audible subscription costs 10 euros per month and offers a monthly voucher that can be redeemed for any audiobook from the portfolio. These audiobooks can be listened to in your library for as long as you like.
