Previously, Microsoft offered movies and series in addition to games and applications in its store under Windows and for the Xbox. Microsoft has now temporarily discontinued the entertainment offer as of July 18, 2025. If you click on the corresponding icon in the Windows Store, you will be notified that no more content is available for purchase. During our test under Windows, the section in the Store was already completely missing.
In the support area, Microsoft explains that content already purchased on the Xbox and under Windows can still be played in HD resolution with the Movies & TV app. According to Microsoft, Windows customers will also continue to have access to the download function.

Microsoft recommends the Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV services, among others, for purchasing new content. A refund of the purchase price is not possible, nor is the transfer of purchased content to another provider.
