Chinese manufacturer Ugreen is launching its first network-attached storage (NAS) systems with ARM processors. They follow the previous models with x86 processors from Intel, such as NASync DXP2800 and NASync DXP4800 Plus. The ARM newcomers are called NASync DH4300 Plus and NASync DH2300.

Ugreen uses the Rockchip RK3588C ARM processor. It has eight CPU cores, divided into four Cortex-A76 and four Cortex-A55 cores. They are supposed to work more economically than the Intel CPUs N100 (four efficiency cores) and Pentium Gold 8505 (one performance and four efficiency cores) used to date. However, tests will have to show how fast the Ugreen NAS with ARM CPUs perform.

The RAM remains at a capacity of 8 GB, but here in the form of soldered LPDDR4X RAM, which cannot be replaced or expanded. Ugreen's own operating system UGOS Pro is pre-installed on eMMC NAND flash memory – the 32 GB capacity is also sufficient for additional apps. There are no M.2 slots for fast SSDs.

Unconventional: Hard disks are inserted into the bays of the new Ugreen NAS from above.

While the DH4300 Plus accommodates a total of four hard disks with up to 30 TByte each and thus also supports RAID 5, the DH2300 only offers two hard disk bays (also 30 TByte each) and a maximum of RAID 1. Ugreen recommends the use of enterprise or NAS hard disks. Third-party hard disks are expressly supported. The equipment is mounted from above.

Both variants have an RJ45 socket with 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, two USB type A plugs with 10 Gbit/s (USB 3.2 Gen 2) and a type C plug with 5 Gbit/s (USB 3.2 Gen 1). Videos can be streamed via the HDMI 2.0 port with 4K resolution and 60 hertz.

Ugreen sells the NASync DH4300 Plus (starting from 359 €) via Amazon. Interested parties can redeem a 20 percent voucher until July 27, 2025. The smaller NASync DH2300 is set to follow soon; the manufacturer has not yet announced a price.
