Spotify is now available as a free app in the Horizon Store and supports the multitasking functions of the Meta Quest.

The streaming service appears as a window that can be placed anywhere in the room alongside other 2D apps. The music continues to play even when starting a VR or MR application. This allows Spotify to be used while working or playing, just like on a conventional computer or tablet.

Another practical feature is that the window can be minimized. A small control overlay can then be used to pause playback and skip to the previous or next song without much effort. Video podcasts are also supported.

The user interface corresponds to that of the Spotify Web Player. This may not be ideal for use in VR, but it's better than nothing. After all, Quest users have been waiting for an official Spotify app for years.

Logging into your own account is straightforward: After entering your username, you receive a code by email that you can use to log in directly. This eliminates the tedious typing of the password on the VR keyboard.
