DeepL Voice can speak Mandarin and Ukrainian

The Cologne-based company DeepL offers a live translator at DeepL Voice. The tool will be able to translate into even more languages in future. There is also an integration for Zoom and the range of functions has been expanded.

The new languages that DeepL Voice can handle are Mandarin, Ukrainian and Romanian. DeepL CEO and founder Jarek Kutylowski writes in a press release: "Global companies cannot afford to be slowed down by language barriers." There are already more than 200,000 business customers using DeepL. DeepL Voice, the live translator, has been available since fall 2024 and works both virtually and in person. In online meetings, the translations appear as subtitles; on mobile devices, there is a real-time translator for spoken conversations.

Specifically, the language input in DeepL Voice is also available for German, English, Japanese, Korean, Swedish, Dutch, French, Turkish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Italian. Subtitles are available in 35 languages, including recently added Hebrew and Vietnamese.

DeepL Voice is already available as an integration for Microsoft Teams. Now Zoom is following. Of course, they also have their own translation functions. In addition, DeepL Voice for Conversations is already available for iOS and Android.

At DeepL, all products are based on proprietary AI models. These are optimized for real-time language translation. The former start-up now has more than 1,000 employees and says it operates in 228 markets worldwide. The focus is on security for business customers.
