Super refresh: New RTX 5000 graphics cards to come with more memory
The super versions of the GeForce RTX 5070, 5070 Ti and 5080 will have 50 percent more RAM and will be released as early as 2025.
Nvidia is said to already be preparing for the launch of three revised graphics cards. According to TweakTown, the Blackwell models GeForce RTX 5070, GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, and GeForce RTX 5080 will receive so-called super variants this year. This is what Nvidia has been calling improved versions of previous graphics cards for generations.
This time, the focus will be on the memory: Nvidia is reportedly giving all three new editions 50 percent more RAM. The GeForce RTX 5070 Super would therefore come with 18 GB instead of 12 GB and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Super and GeForce RTX 5080 would receive 24 GB instead of 18 GB.
“Crooked” memory chips
New 24 gigabit memory chips (3 GB each) enable this increase in capacity without having to widen the interface. Nvidia can therefore continue to use the same GPUs. So far, 16 gigabit chips (2 GByte each) have been used.
Rumors about more memory in the Super variants have been circulating for months, including from the X account “kopite7kimi”. He is quite reliable when it comes to leaks. According to this, the memory clock frequencies could also increase slightly.
What is new above all is the planned launch date. According to TweakTown, Nvidia is said to have brought this forward from the beginning of 2026 to the end of 2025. The graphics cards could therefore be available for the Christmas season.

Hardly any more performance
Meanwhile, the GeForce RTX 5070 Super is the only revised model to receive slightly more computing power. Accordingly, Nvidia is giving it the full GB205 GPU with 6400 shader cores –, which would be four percent more than the slimmed-down GeForce RTX 5070.
With the GeForce RTX 5080 Super, Nvidia cannot increase the number of shader cores without switching from the GB203 GPU to the significantly larger GB202 variant. To maintain the gap, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Super will not receive any additional shaders.
It is unknown whether the Super variants will replace the previous models or run in parallel.
