AMD secretly releases Radeon RX 9060 to the market
The Radeon RX 9060 could be a graphics card for 250 euros. But AMD only releases the slimmed-down version of the Radeon RX 9060 XT for complete PCs.
AMD's 9000 graphics card family is growing in the form of the Radeon RX 9060, a slimmed-down version of the Radeon RX 9060 XT (from 300 euros) with fewer shader cores and lower clock frequencies.
The model would be a potential candidate for a 250 euro graphics card. However, AMD is currently only planning the Radeon RX 9060 for complete PCs. Retailers will not initially receive separately available graphics cards. US media such as Tom's Hardware report on this restriction.
Navi 44 with fewer cores
Like its XT sister, the Radeon RX 9060 uses the Navi 44 GPU. However, instead of 32, only 28 compute units with a total of 1792 shader cores are active. This corresponds to a reduction of 12.5 percent.
AMD does not specify the clock frequencies but does give a maximum computing power of 21.4 FP32 teraflops. This corresponds to a maximum clock rate of just under 3000 MHz – minus 4.5 percent compared to the XT version. The typical gaming clock should also be lower. In purely mathematical terms, the Radeon RX 9060 is a good 16 percent slower than its XT sister.

On the memory side, it remains with 8 GByte GDDR6 RAM on a 128 bit wide interface. However, the Radeon RX 9060 has to make do with comparatively slow memory modules. The transfer rate drops by ten percent to 288 GByte/s compared to the XT version. There is no 16 GByte version like the Radeon RX 9060 XT. According to the data sheet, the new model makes do with 132 watts of electrical power, which is 17.5 percent less than the XT version.
AMD markets the Radeon RX 9060 as a full-HD gaming graphics card on its product page. The AMD design shown there is merely rendered and is unlikely to appear as a real model. No complete PCs with the graphics card are yet available in German stores.
