iPhone 17 (Pro) and iOS 26: Apple event, announcement and release ahead
Apple is expected to unveil the next iPhone generation in just over a month's time. Design changes and a newcomer are expected.

September is approaching, and with it, new iPhones. Apple usually chooses the week after the US Labor Day holiday, which always falls on the first Monday in September. Accordingly, the iPhone event in 2025 is likely to take place in calendar week 37, i.e. probably on September 8, 9 or 10. According to information from iPhone-Ticker.de, German mobile phone providers are already preparing for Tuesday, September 9 as the announcement date.
September launch for iPhone 17 and iOS 26
If Apple remains true to its usual pattern, the market launch of the iPhone 17 series will follow on Friday, September 19. Pre-orders could be possible from September 12. Shortly before the start of sales, Apple will also release the latest iOS version: iOS 26 would therefore be released to the general public for download on September 15 or 16. The public beta test of the operating system with the new Liquid Glass look is already underway.
According to rumors and parts leaks, the iPhone 17 series will bring major design changes after years, primarily in the camera system on the back and the placement of the logo. The "iPhone 17 Air" is also expected to be a particularly thin and light newcomer with a 6.6" display, which will probably replace the not particularly popular Plus series.

In addition to the A19/A19 Pro chip, the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro are likely to see minor improvements to the cameras, while a new vapor-chamber cooling system is also being discussed for the Pro series. The basic 17 models could also receive a 120 Hz display for the first time; the iPhone 16 does not have a refresh rate of 60 Hz. It is unclear whether Apple will equip the new devices with an in-house WLAN and Bluetooth chip and which model series will feature the manufacturer's relatively new C1 mobile chip, which made its debut in the iPhone 16e in the spring.
Price increase for iPhones conceivable
Specific prices for the iPhone 17 have not yet been leaked. However, the first US iPhone price increase in many years is expected due to Trump's punitive tariffs. Whether this will also result in a higher euro price remains to be seen. The iPhone 16 already costs 950 euros (128 GB storage space) in Germany, while the iPhone 16 Pro is available from 1200 euros (128 GB storage space).
