Android 16: August update for Pixel fixes annoying navigation bug
Google has released the August update for its Pixel devices. Among other things, the software fixes a bug that caused the navigation to stop responding.

The update to Android 16 released at the beginning of June arrived slightly buggy for Pixel users. With the August update, Google is now fixing some forgotten bugs and bringing “general improvements for system stability”. The August update also fixes some vulnerabilities after Google took a patch break in July.
Google fixes navigation problem
One of the most important bug fixes is the elimination of the back gesture that occasionally stops responding for some users. Errors with the three-button navigation bar, which were apparently mainly observed on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9, should also no longer occur after installing the update. Google describes the errors with the navigation in the changelog quite vaguely: The problems would only occur under “certain conditions.”
In addition to general stability improvements, the update also resolves a problem where a planned switch from the light to the dark design did not work. The update also includes security fixes for a serious vulnerability that allows remote code execution, according to Google. According to the company, however, malicious code can only be executed remotely in combination with other bugs. What exactly this means and how such an attack could take place is still unclear.
Pixel 6 not affected by navigation bug
The two bug fixes apparently do not affect the Pixel 6 series. This is because the two bug fixes are only provided for models from the Pixel 7 series onwards, as can be seen from the footnote.
According to Google, the update will be made available for all supported Pixel devices with Android 16 – from the Pixel 6 and newer. The software is available for installation immediately and will be released in stages over the next week, depending on the network operator and device.

The Pixel update has the version number BP2A.250805.005 for Pixel 7 and newer. Older devices such as Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a will receive customized versions with the build numbers BP2A.250605.031.A5 and BP2A.250705.008.A1 respectively.
