macOS 13 Ventura before the end: Probably no more Apple patches
Apple no longer seems to be planning any security updates for macOS 13. Users should upgrade – if possible – or at least change their browser.

Anyone using macOS 13 Ventura will probably soon be working with a system that has known but unpatched security vulnerabilities. At the end of July, Apple released macOS 13.7.7 and Safari 18.6, important security updates that close serious gaps. However, if the manufacturer follows its usual schedule, these were also the last patches for macOS Ventura.
Updates for macOS 15 and 14 in preparation
A first indication of the virtual end of support for version 13 of macOS was provided by two "release candidates" that Apple apparently released early for developers and then immediately withdrew again, namely macOS 15.7 Sequoia and macOS 14.8 Sonoma. The planned updates are expected to be released alongside the new macOS 26 Tahoe in September and, according to the description text, provide "important security fixes" – regarding security vulnerabilities that were also fixed in macOS 26.
Users who are unable to update their Mac to macOS 14 or later should switch from Safari to another browser that continues to be updated with security patches – such as Chrome or Firefox. This applies to 2017 MacBook Pro and 12" MacBook models, for example.
Apple will also release the new Safari 26 version, which is part of macOS 26, for macOS 15 and macOS 14 – but not for macOS 13. The browser is one of the main gateways for malware, and if it is no longer patched by the manufacturer, it should no longer be used.

Apple patches for the two previous versions
Apple has never wanted to be specific about how long security patches will be available for older operating systems. In the case of macOS, the company usually continues to provide patches for the two macOS versions preceding the current version. Accordingly, this time macOS 13 will not be covered with the upcoming release of macOS 26 next month.
