VR Games Showcase August 2025: All new VR games and announcements

The VR Games Showcase 2025 once again demonstrated just how diverse virtual reality has become. The spectrum of announcements ranged from survival adventures in the wilderness and mythological roguelites to controversial new editions and narrative experiments. Particularly striking: more and more video games are being adapted for VR.

In addition, in-house developments such as "Tracked" or "Stellar Cafe" attracted attention with some unusual gameplay and new forms of interaction. There were also new trailers for previously announced VR games such as "World War Z", "Grit and Valor: 1949", the VR flight simulator "Aces of Thunder" and the VR blockbuster "Reach".

Flat2VR Spark: New label for VR ports

As is now customary, Flat2VR Studios once again took up a large block in this year's showcase. The studio, which specializes in official ports of flatscreen games, announced several titles and the founding of a new label. The latest porting project concerns the horror phenomenon "Poppy Playtime", in which players explore an abandoned toy factory and are pursued by the bizarre creature "Huggy Wuggy".

The studio also announced that it wants to work more closely with modders and indie developers in future to enable more VR adaptations. These works will be published under the "Flat2VR Spark" label, which will implement fast, licensed VR adaptations for Meta Quest, PS VR2 and PC VR. The model envisages small, specialized teams – so-called "pods" – working closely with Flat2VR, but acting independently.

Flat2VR is responsible for quality assurance, platform certification and compliance with technical standards for VR platforms such as Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2 and PC VR. In return, the developers receive a revenue share and official mention in the game. However, the rights to the games remain with the original rights holders. The first titles are "The Signal: Stranded on Sirenis", "FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR" and "I Am Your Beast VR".

Kickstarter campaign launched for Postal 2 Redux and VR version

The controversial classic shooter "Postal 2" is getting a new edition for PC and consoles with "Redux", which is to be financed by a Kickstarter campaign starting today. A VR version of "Postal 2" is being developed in parallel. Both versions will benefit from the stretch goals of the current Kickstarter campaign.

"Postal 2" is still indexed in Germany and was last confirmed in 2021 by the Federal Center for the Protection of Children and Young Persons in the Media. A removal from the list was rejected. Although the studio has already announced its intention to make the new versions available in this country, its success is questionable.

VR survival in the wilderness and speaking as a game mechanic

In the area of games developed natively for VR, the first in-house production from Incuvo, the creators of Green Hell VR, stands out in particular. In "Tracked: Shoot to Survive", players must save their sister from a drug cartel as survivors of a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness and assert themselves in the survival shooter with extensive crafting mechanics and wildlife encounters. The game will be released in fall 2025 for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3s.

"Stellar Cafe", developed by the new studio AstroBeam, which is headed by a former Owlchemy Labs founder, takes a significantly different direction. The narrative VR game dispenses with menus and controllers and relies solely on voice and gestures. Players are supposed to help talking robots in natural conversations to overcome their personal crises, be it through coaching or mental support.

Dimensional Double Shift – DLC New Joysey	The New Joysey expansion for Dimensional Double Shift will soon bring new mini-games and quirky humor to the Meta Quest.
Among Us VR	Among Us VR has received a new limited-time game mode called “Critical Cargo.”
Hidden Memories of the Gardens Between	Now also available on PS VR2, guiding players through a VR narrative about friendship and memory.
Grit & Valor: 1949	Combines roguelite mechanics with real-time strategy and will be released on August 21, 2025, for Meta Quest, PS VR2, and SteamVR.
Of Lies & Rain	Of Lies & Rain will be released on September 10, 2025, in Early Access for Quest and PC VR, telling a dark sci-fi story that blurs the lines between reality and the digital world.
Exoshock	Cooperative sci-fi shooter with tactical action. Coming in fall 2025 for Quest and PS VR2.
Ready or Not VRO Mod	Brings a standalone VR adaptation of the tactical shooter to the PC.
ZIX	Launching in Early Access on September 18, 2025, it combines roguelike action with modifiable VR worlds for Meta Quest 3, 3s, and SteamVR.
World War Z VR	World War Z VR is now available for Quest and PC VR, letting players take on huge zombie hordes in single-player missions.
Lushfoil Photography Sim VR	Set to be released soon for SteamVR, it invites players to calmly explore photorealistic landscapes.
Stellar Cafe	Coming to Meta Quest in 2025, it relies on voice interaction instead of controllers – with quirky robots as conversation partners.
Vex Mage	Fast-paced arena shooter with spell system. Coming in 2025 for Meta Quest and SteamVR – a demo is already available.
Forefront	Launching now in open alpha, it offers large-scale multiplayer battles with vehicles on land, water, and in the air.
Poppy Playtime VR	Poppy Playtime VR was announced as a teaser and will be implemented for Meta Quest, PS VR2, and PC VR.
Postal 2 Redux & VR	Postal 2 Redux and a VR version of the controversial shooter are to be financed via a new Kickstarter campaign.
Dixotomia	A dark sci-fi shooter with a vampire theme. Coming in October 2025 for Meta Quest and PC VR.
Color-A-Cube x Gorn	Color-A-Cube has released a Gorn crossover that is now available to play on Meta Quest, combining voxel-based painting worlds with combat.
How to God	Coming in 2025 for Meta Quest, this game lets players decide whether they want to create or destroy a world.
Detective VR	Coming in spring 2026 for PS VR2 and PC VR, bringing mixed reality investigation right into your living room.
Rager	Launching in Early Access in the third quarter of 2025, it combines music rhythm with action-packed brawler gameplay.
Whispers of the Void	Sci-fi adventure featuring sword fights, puzzles, and alien technology for Quest and PC VR.
Little Planet	Leaving Early Access on October 30, 2025, it offers a relaxed VR sandbox for creative design.
My Monsters	Coming in Q3 2025 for Quest and PC VR, it combines hand-painted art with emotional action and inner reflection.
