Gamescom is growing again: according to the organizers from Koelnmesse and the industry association Game, over 1500 exhibitors will be presenting their games and projects from 20 to 24 August. Last year, the games fair counted 1400 exhibitors. Gamescom was also able to make slight gains in terms of exhibition space: instead of 230,000 square meters, Koelnmesse and Game are now stating 233,000 square meters.

Presenting new records, no matter how small, is part of the successful public image of the Cologne games fair, which, unlike other trade fairs, has found its way back to success after the Covid pandemic. “The growth to 233,000 square meters of space and the record number of registrations confirm the sustained success of the hybrid event concept,” comments Kolenmesse Managing Director Gerald Böse on the figures. Among other things, Gamescom is hybrid because of its streamed opening show Opening Night live and the online offer gamescom.global.

Indie studios and other small teams from a total of 72 countries make up the majority of the 1500 exhibitors. Companies and institutions that do not develop games themselves are also included, such as the German Armed Forces, a regular Gamescom guest, and the Federal Agency for Civic Education. The largest game exhibitors include EA, Microsoft, and Nintendo. Ubisoft will also be there with the construction game “Anno 117.”

The opening of Gamescom 2025 will take place on August 19 at 8 pm. While 5,000 invited journalists and game representatives will be watching in Hall 1 of Koelnmesse, significantly more users will be following the show in the online streams. Geoff Keighley will once again host the Opening Night Live, which will include a screening of “Call of Duty Black Ops 7”. The game show is scheduled to run until 10 p.m.

Game and Koelnmesse are also organizing supporting programs for developers (Devcom) and games policy (Gamescom Congress) around Gamescom.
