In the release announcement, Microsoft's programmers write that they have modernized the user interface. They have chosen clearer descriptions and streamlined the navigation, which should speed up operation. In the command palette, they have “solved more than 99 problems.” In the process, they have brought back the clipboard history, added shortcuts for the context menu, pinned favorite apps, and now added a history for the “Run” component.
Reduced memory requirements, faster loading time
The developers also emphasize that they have reduced the memory requirements of the command palette at startup time by around 15Â percent. The loading time has even been reduced by 40Â percent and the loading of integrated extensions by as much as 70Â percent. They have also reduced the installation size by 55Â percent. All this is said to be due to the Ahead-of-Time Compiling (AOT) mode of the Windows Apps SDK.

The preview has now learned the Binary G-code (.bgcode) format of 3D print files and can visualize the embedded thumbnails and data. The mouse utilities have also received a new spotlight highlight mode that darkens the screen and draws attention to the cursor – which should be particularly useful for presentations.
The internal search for updates finds the available update at the touch of a button and offers to download and install it.
