Following an initial preview in March, Core Devices has unveiled the final design of the Pebble Time 2. The start-up led by Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky also provides new details about the e-paper watch.
Stainless-steel case inspired by the Pebble Steel
The Time 2 uses 316 stainless steel for the front and back as well as the knurled buttons, which is inspired by the Pebble Time Steel. There will also be multi-colored RGB backlighting, a second microphone, a screw-in back cover, and a compass. The watch will weigh around 48 g with the strap and 32.5 g without.
The other specifications have not changed. The Watch 2 will have a 1.5-inch e-paper display with 64 colors, touchscreen, 22 mm wide standard wristbands, heart rate monitor, and a battery life of up to 30 days.
Fine tuning
Compared to the first announcement of the watches at the beginning of this year, which still had to do without the Pebble name at the time, Migicovsky has visibly fine-tuned the design. The final design features additional curves, new color accents, and a more elegant appearance. At the end of July, the company regained the naming rights from Pebble so that the new watches can appear with the original name and not under the name “Core.”

According to the manufacturer, the Time 2 will also be available in four colors, which have not yet been finalized. Migicovsky says that the company is still waiting for feedback from Pebble fans.
Migicovsky writes in his blog that customers who want to change their order from the Pebble 2 Duo to the Time 2 don't have to do anything special. During September, a survey will be sent to all those who have pre-ordered the watch.
