The 7-inch Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 is getting a smaller sister model. The Raspi manufacturer is announcing a more compact 5-inch version. Apart from the size, both versions are largely identical.
Because the resolution remains identical at 1280Â Ă— 720 pixels, the pixel density increases from around 210 to 294 pixels per inch (ppi). The manufacturer merely notes that the viewing angle of the 5-inch version is slightly steeper at 80 instead of 85 degrees. This means that colors can be distorted more quickly when viewed from the outside. The refresh rate is 60 Hertz. As usual, the manufacturer does not provide any further details on the display technology.
The new version also supports touch. The manufacturer's own Raspberry Pi OS contains suitable drivers, including 5-finger support and an on-screen keyboard.
