With “Reach,” nDreams is bringing a VR game from its new studio Elevation to the market for the first time. Following initial announcements during the Summer Game Fest, the studio has now announced the release date. The physically demanding adventure will be released on October 16, 2025, for Meta Quest, PlayStation VR 2, and PC-VR. nDreams also presented a new gameplay trailer during today's Future Games Show, which shows, among other things, how players can use tools creatively for puzzles, locomotion, and combat.

According to studio head Glenn Brace, Reach offers “in-depth VR mechanics,” including physics-based interactions, a full-body rendering, and a traversal system that works using gesture control. The aim is to enable a seamless experience of a dynamic, underground world. Players take on the role of a reluctant hero who falls into a forgotten civilization and has to assert himself against mythical threats.

The developers promise that every action has a direct impact on the game world. In practice, this means that climbing, ziplining, melee combat, and ranged attacks alternate with physics-based puzzle sections. According to nDreams, the controls have been specially optimized for VR and are designed to capture movements intuitively.

We were able to try out an early build of “Reach” during last year's Gamescom. The lighting effects, the reactive environment, and the high level of presence created by the combination of graphic quality and interaction options were particularly impressive.

Shuhei Yoshida, former PlayStation boss and indie promoter at Sony Interactive Entertainment, was also “pleasantly surprised” by the freedom and immersion after playing the game himself. In addition to Reach, nDreams is also known for the multiplayer shooter “Frenzies” and has already gained a lot of experience with action titles in VR with titles such as “Synapse” and “Fracked.” The company describes Reach as its most ambitious title to date.
