"Zero Parades": ZA/UM presents the unofficial successor to "Disco Elysium"

With "Zero Parades", ZA/UM obviously wants to build on the success of "Disco Elysium". However, the creative minds have long since left the studio.

The studio behind the indie mega-hit "Disco Elysium" presented a new game at the Gamescom opening show: "Zero Parades" looks very similar to "Disco Elysium", is played from a bird's eye view and is even animated similarly to "Disco Elysium". The similarities to the original are therefore very obvious.

However, today's ZA/UM no longer has much to do with the team that developed "Disco Elysium". The creative minds behind the detective RPG left the studio years ago with a bang. This was followed by a public, ugly dispute, which was also taken to court and extremely damaged ZA/UM's image.

The studio has since scrapped several games, including a planned sequel to "Disco Elysium". ZA/UM generally deactivates the ratings under its videos. However, a look at the comments clearly shows how much disapproval the studio has received from the gaming community.

ZA/UM describes "Zero Parades" as an espionage RPG. In it, you play an agent who is badly scarred by past missteps. He has this in common with the protagonist of "Disco Elysium". One difference: the name of the "Zero Parades" character is known right from the start - it's Hershel Wilk.

"You find yourself in a three-way battle for cultural and ideological power in an unforgettable new city," writes ZA/UM in the game's Steam description. "In 'Zero Parades', the world itself is a character with its own secrets, traumas and wonders to discover."

The name itself is probably intended to express the bleakness of the setting. "No parades, no happy endings," writes ZA/UM. "Zero Parades" will combine espionage novels with surreal undertones, it continues. There is no release date for the espionage RPG yet.

"Disco Elysium" was launched in 2019 and is considered one of the best indie games of all time. The game impressed with its multi-layered dialog, surreal art style and innovative role-playing elements.
