The best VR games in September 2025: Of Lies and Rain, UnLoop and MyMonsters
A popular co-op RPG will be released for PC VR, a survival title transports players to the Stone Age and a VR sci-fi thriller will be launched in Early Access.

With "Neolithic Dawn", "UnLoop", "Of Lies and Rain" and "My Monsters", four VR games that stand out with innovative concepts, emotional depth or technical sophistication will be released in September. The popular co-op RPG "Dungeons of Eternity" is finally getting a PC VR version after two years on the Quest and the VR basketball game "Blacktop Hoops" is now also being released for Playstation VR2. The month is rounded off by a number of exciting indie releases for Meta Quest, SteamVR, PS VR2 and Pico.
Neolithic Dawn: Survive like 10,000 years ago
After four years of development, the indie team Neolithic LLC is bringing an ambitious open-world survival game to virtual reality with "Neolithic Dawn". The title will launch in Early Access exclusively in the Meta Quest Store on September 27. A PC VR version is also in the works, but a date has yet to be set.

Players are taken in as a foundling by a tribe in North America around 10,000 years before our era. If the character dies, the story does not end: instead, the game continues as a descendant – twenty years later. This cross-generational permadeath function means that constructed buildings can continue to be used, items can be recovered and the world can be experienced as it changes.
In addition to the single-player mode, there will also be a co-op mode in which players can explore the wilderness together, tame animals or craft tools. Realistic physics, a dynamic day-night cycle and changing weather conditions will also be included.
Dungeons of Eternity – Steam version with major update
The fantasy action RPG "Dungeons of Eternity" will be released for SteamVR on September 11, bringing with it the biggest content and graphics overhaul to date. The VR game from Othergate was previously only available for Meta Quest and is considered one of the best multiplayer VR games on the platform.

The Steam release includes real-time lighting, volumetric effects and new weapons and characters. The co-op mode has already been expanded to up to four people, and there is also a new PvP mode. According to the developer, both versions will be identical in terms of content, with the PC version offering more graphical customization options.
UnLoop – Time loop puzzles in VR
The puzzle game "UnLoop" will be released on September 5 for Pico and Meta Quest headsets. Developed by CM Games, which is responsible for the VR survival hit "Into the Radius", the title combines time manipulation with creative puzzles in a retro-futuristic setting.

Players infiltrate the "Temporal Research Hub" as spies on a heavily guarded space station. Using time loops, they must record their past actions and work with their past selves to overcome obstacles such as laser barriers or turrets.
My Monsters – Emotional VR adventure
Brazilian studio Ludact is releasing its new VR adventure "My Monsters" for Meta Quest and SteamVR in September. The title features hand-painted graphics and focuses on psychological challenges such as fear, loneliness and being overwhelmed.

The focus is on the relationship with Moti, a small monster that accompanies players on their journey through the dream realm of Onirium. Together, you will solve puzzles, fight hostile creatures, and uncover an emotional story. The title includes 70 hand-drawn maps in three biomes and ten enemy types that symbolize mental states. According to Egon Ribeiro from Ludact, "My Monsters" is intended to offer introspective experiences and not just use VR as a pure entertainment medium. A free demo for Quest is already available.

Of Lies and Rain – Graphically elaborate sci-fi thriller
With "Of Lies and Rain", Castello Inc. is bringing a dark sci-fi adventure to virtual reality. The title will be released on September 10 for Meta Quest and Steam in Early Access and will also be released later for PSVR 2.

Without memory, the nameless protagonist fights in a post-apocalyptic world against the artificial intelligence A.D.E., which has wiped out large parts of humanity after a 20-year war. The game alternates between the digital and real world, sets gigantic machine creatures on players and offers numerous environmental puzzles.
The developers rely on physics-based interaction with the game world, manual reloading of weapons and an upgrade system via so-called "data centers". The main differences between the platforms are in the graphics: While the Quest 3 version uses reduced textures, the PC VR version already impressed graphically in the pre-released demo with dynamic lighting effects.
