Galaxy S25 FE: Samsung expands its S-Class
Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 FE. The new addition to the S25 series does not have it easy, as it has competition from its own company.

As suspected in advance, Samsung has used the IFA to present a new variant of the Galaxy S25 as part of a "Galaxy Event". However, the manufacturer is offering the Galaxy S25 FE – like the previous generations – with difficult pricing and features.
About the same size as the Galaxy S25 Plus
The Galaxy S25 FE has a 6.7-inch OLED display, so it comes with the same diagonal as the Galaxy S25 Plus. However, the FE model only supports a refresh rate of 60 to 120 hertz, while the Galaxy S25+ offers an LTPO panel with 1 to 120 hertz. The screen also has a resolution of Full HD+ (2340 Ă— 1080 pixels), while the S25+ offers WQHD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels).
The rear of the S25 FE is adorned with a 50 MP main camera, accompanied by a 12 MP ultra-wide angle and a triple telephoto with eight MP; the selfie camera takes pictures with a resolution of 12 MP. The cameras of the S25+ sound almost identical, but Samsung uses a 10 MP sensor for the triple telephoto lens of the model presented in January.

The Galaxy S25 FE is powered by an Exynos 2400 chip with ten cores, which is produced using the 4 nm process. It is the same chip that Samsung already used in the 2024 Galaxy S24 and S24+. Meanwhile, the manufacturer uses Qualcomm's current top chip Snapdragon 8 Elite with 3 nm in the S25+, which is better positioned in terms of performance and efficiency. The S25 FE also has 8 GB of RAM (S25+: 12 GB) and 128 or 256 GB of internal memory without the option of expansion. At 4900 mAh, the battery holds just as much energy as that of the S25+ and is therefore 200 mAh larger than that in the S24 FE. The maximum charging power is 45 watts or 15 watts wirelessly and is therefore identical to the S25+.
In terms of dimensions, at 158.4 Ă— 75.8 Ă— 7.3 mm, the S25+ is a shade more compact and slimmer than the FE model, which measures 161.3 x 76.6 x 7.4 mm. This is probably due to the slightly thicker screen edges, among other things. In terms of weight, both are on a par at 190 g. The housing made of Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Armor aluminum is protected against water and dust in accordance with IP68.

Android 16 ex works
With Samsung's One UI 8.0 user interface based on Android 16, the smartphone is up to date in terms of software. Various AI functions, which Samsung calls Galaxy AI, are also on board. In addition to Google's Gemini as an assistant, Circle to Search and Samsung's Now Brief are also available, as well as a writing and call assistant and more. Samsung intends to provide the S25 FE with updates for seven years, and the manufacturer is exemplary in this respect.

With an RRP of 749 euros, the S25 FE sounds like an interesting package, if it weren't for the competition from Samsung in the form of the S25+. The Plus model, which is better equipped in many respects, is sometimes offered at a lower street price than the new FE model –, although the Plus version has twice the standard memory of 256 GB as standard. Samsung charges 809 euros for the S25 FE variant. Less expensive than the S25 Plus is the Galaxy S25, which is available for less than 600 euros but only has a 6.2-inch display. However, the smaller model can only charge with 25 watts. The S25 FE will be available from September 5.
