The Withings Scanwatch 2, which was presented at IFA in 2023, is now being followed by the "new Scanwatch 2", which is primarily a major software update. The Scanwatch 2 is getting a new operating system version called HealthSense 4. In addition, AI-supported analysis functions are moving into the watch, which can detect "early changes in health status – from signs of impending illness to the next menstrual cycle to falling energy levels".
35-day runtime
The new software is intended to increase the runtime from 30 to 35 days. Delivering five days more battery life with a software update is encouraging. According to the manufacturer, the hybrid watch uses 35 different health markers, including sleep, physical activity, cardiovascular functions, temperature and menstrual cycle predictions, to provide "holistic health monitoring".
Withings also promises "seamless day and night monitoring of all key vital signs". Night-time analysis in particular plays a key role, as fluctuations in parameters such as heart rate variability, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature provide in-depth insights into regeneration, stress, heart health and women's health.
Vitality indicator and optimizations
According to the manufacturer, a new feature is a "vitality indicator", which uses AI-based analyses of various vitality data to provide "individual warnings and tips for optimizing energy". However, this feature is subject to a charge and can only be used via the subscription-based Withings+ health service.
The hybrid watch should also be able to better analyze sleep phases. The pedometer and automatic activity detection are also said to have been improved. An integrated PPG sensor also continuously monitors the heart rhythm and automatically detects irregularities such as atrial fibrillation. In the event of abnormalities, users can use the "medically validated" ECG function if required.

According to Withings, the prediction of the menstrual cycle – has also been optimized for irregular cycles and during the perimenopause. This also applies to early warnings of temperature changes and possible illnesses.

The manufacturer has also revised the smartphone app, which has a customizable dashboard and "trend analyses" on board. The latter are intended to give users a better understanding and "enable them to work on their health in a targeted manner".
According to the manufacturer, the Scanwatch 2 with the new OS version will be available on the Withings website from September 5, 2025 at a price of 350 euros. It will continue to be offered in two versions with 38 and 42 mm cases. The 42 mm model is now also available in blue and silver. The price includes a three-month free Withings+ subscription, which includes advanced metrics and an AI assistant.
If you already own a ScanWatch 2, the new functions will also be rolled out as an update for models already sold in the ScanWatch 2 series. The compatible watches also include the Light, Nova and Brilliant models. Only the ScanWatch Light will be partially left out: This is because it does not have a temperature module and therefore cannot issue temperature warnings.
