iPhone 17 Pro & Air: Apple's A19 Pro outperforms Android processors
Apple's fastest iPhone processor, the A19 Pro, has already appeared in Geekbench. It scrapes the 4000-point mark for the first time in the single-threading test.

The processor in Apple's new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air has already appeared in the Geekbench comparison benchmark. The single-threaded performance is particularly exciting – it determines how fast a smartphone feels in everyday use and shows the extent to which Apple has improved the performance cores.
The results range from a good 3500 to just under 4000 points. The lowest scores appear to be outliers, which can occur at high temperatures, for example. The A19 Pro is the first smartphone processor to scratch the 4000 single-threading points mark. The best results of the A18 Pro are around 3400 points.

The Android competition is far behind. Qualcomm's fastest smartphone processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, achieves less than 3000 to occasionally 3200 points, depending on the model. In the case of Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra (with the Snapdragon), the Geekbench overview gives an average result of just under 2900 points. Google's current Tensor G5 in the Pixel 10 series achieves around 2300 points.

At the forefront in multithreading
In the multithreading test, six CPU cores (two performance + four efficiency cores) are enough for the A19 Pro to keep up with the eight-core competition. The preliminary benchmarks attest the Apple processors 8800 to almost 10,500 points. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is also in this range. Google's Tensor G5 is also beaten here with top scores of 6400 points.
Qualcomm is holding its next Snapdragon Summit at the end of September, where the company traditionally announces new processors. The successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to land in smartphones from the beginning of 2026 and make a further leap in performance with CPU cores designed in-house. This model is likely to pose the greatest threat to the A19 Pro in terms of performance.
