"The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" follows the "Super Mario Bros." film, which Nintendo released in cinemas in 2023. The animation studio Illumination is once again producing part 2. The actors from the first part are also set to return – including Chris Pratt as Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach in the English-language version.
Over one billion US dollars grossed
The first Mario film is considered a huge success for Nintendo and has raked in over one billion US dollars. According to a report by industry magazine Variety, this makes the Mario film by far the most successful video game adaptation of all time.
Nintendo has also benefited from synergy effects – The film's success has boosted sales of the Mario games. It is therefore no surprise that Nintendo also wants to bring other brands to the big screen. Nintendo is currently producing a live-action film adaptation of the video game series "The Legend of Zelda".
