Raspi manufacturer now also sells a 1 TB SSD
Raspberry Pi Plc. doubles the capacity of its 30 mm short mini SSD. The 1 TB model is available for just under 80 euros.

The official Raspberry Pi SSD is now also available with a capacity of one terabyte. It is the third variant from the Raspi manufacturer – the 256 and 512 GB versions have been available since last fall.
The M.2 card is still 30 mm short, which means it also fits into most handheld PCs, such as the Steam Deck. The company is sticking with the PCI Express 3.0 interface with four lanes, although only one lane can be used in the Raspberry Pi 5 itself due to the processor connection.

Slightly faster on paper
Once again, only the input/output operations per second (IOPS) on random addresses are noted in the data sheet on the performance side: Raspberry Pi Plc. now promises 90,000 instead of 50,000 IOPS for reading, and 90,000 IOPS for writing.
This is a minimum figure that every Raspi SSD must achieve. Various manufacturers build the SSDs for the Raspberry Pi Plc, including Samsung from South Korea and Biwin from China. The SSDs can also contain faster memory chips and controllers. Our 512 GB test sample, for example, used Samsung chips and achieved up to 180,000 IOPS. Sequentially, up to two gigabytes per second were possible.

Already available
The 1 TByte model has a recommended retail price of 70 US dollars. Including 19 percent VAT (not included in US prices), this corresponds to a good 70 euros. Berrybase, an official German Raspi sales partner, lists the SSD. If you want to use the model with a Raspberry Pi 5, you will need an adapter board (HAT) – a bundle is not yet available.
The cross-manufacturer range of 30 mm SSDs is still manageable. There are currently 40 models with a capacity of at least one terabyte. The Raspi SSD is one of the cheaper, but also slower offerings. Charming for corporate customers: Raspberry Pi Plc. promises that all Raspi SSDs will remain available until at least 2032.
