Apple Sports: Free results app launches in Germany
Apple is bringing its free Sports app to Germany. The ad-free iOS application displays live results from the Bundesliga to Formula 1.

Apple Sports is now also available in Germany and Austria. Apple's sports results app was previously available for the USA, the UK, and Canada. It appeared there quite unexpectedly in February 2024. For a long time, it remained unclear whether and when it would be released for other countries. The iPhone manufacturer has now released it for eight more countries and expanded the sports results service to include local leagues.
The iPhone app (iOS 17.2 and higher) stands out from the crowd of sports apps thanks to its simple design. It is free and ad-free. Apple also advertises the fact that results are displayed in a matter of seconds. Interviews in the USA have revealed that the company apparently works with various data service providers to deliver the results and statistics. Users can display ongoing matches as live activity – This also works on the iPad and Apple Watch.
Personalisation, widgets and live activities
Users of the app can customize Apple Sports according to their preferences. This allows them to highlight matches and leagues that are important to them. It is also possible, for example, to create widgets on the home screen that show how matches have ended or when they are taking place.

In addition to the results, detailed statistics can also be found in the app itself. In soccer matches, for example, these show who had possession of the ball for what proportion of a match or how many shots on goal a team scored. Users can also share the results with friends and acquaintances via a share function.
Eight European countries included
In addition to Germany, Apple Sports is also launching in Spain, Italy, France, Ireland, Portugal, Austria, and Iceland.
In addition to soccer, leagues from basketball, football, baseball, ice hockey and tennis are also represented in the results service.
