In recent months, there have been increasing reports of battery problems with several Pixel models. In addition to the Pixel 4a and 6a, the Pixel 7a was also affected. Now, some owners of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro models are complaining about bloated batteries that can push the screen out of the housing.
Pixel 7 also has battery problems
As PiunikaWeb and Android Authority report, one of the first cases of the Pixel 7 Pro problem can be dated back to the beginning of May this year. At that time, a user wrote on the Google Support forum: "I'm writing to report a serious issue with my Pixel 7 Pro, which I bought about two years ago. I recently noticed that the side cover of the device is starting to come off, as can be clearly seen in the attached photo."
The post has so far garnered over 140 votes from people who are apparently experiencing the same issue. In addition, other users shared pictures of their Pixel 7 devices with bloated batteries under the post.
Side effects: display replacement and short battery life
Another affected user wrote that he had taken his Pixel 7 Pro with a bloated battery to a renowned repair chain. The repair shop informed him that the screen would most likely also have to be replaced due to the detachment of the screen.
According to reports, the accompanying effect of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro's bloated batteries also includes a rapid decrease in battery life, although it is advisable to stop using the affected devices anyway. Some also report that some devices can no longer be switched on despite having a full battery.
Comments on the Google forum indicate that the support team did not have a consistent approach when dealing with user complaints. In some cases, customers were asked to send photos of all sides of their smartphone to the support team. One user, for example, received a refund for the replacement of the battery by a third-party provider. Another stated that Google had offered him a free repair and promised to replace the bloated Pixel 7 with a refurbished device if the repair was unsuccessful.

Google has not yet issued an official statement on the new battery issue. We have asked Google Germany for a statement. In view of the apparently increasing number of voices, the company is likely to respond soon.
Not the first Pixels with battery problems
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that batches of Google's Pixel devices have struggled with battery problems. In April, the company launched a free battery replacement program for Pixel 7a devices and acknowledged that the batteries on some devices can inflate. Depending on the warranty status and region, Google also offers a different goodwill service of up to 400 euros.
In addition to the Pixel 7a, Google also confirmed battery issues with the Pixel 6a, for which the manufacturer had released a software update in July to reduce the battery capacity due to possible overheating problems. Users who notice a bloated battery in their Pixel devices should study the guidelines in the support section and contact customer service.
