WeAct Studio offers an inexpensive gadget for PCs and notebooks: a small 0.96-inch display connected to a USB port.

The WeAct Studio Display FS is only as small as a standard USB stick and displays all kinds of system data on a USB port. The 0.96-inch LC display has a resolution of 160Â Ă— 80 pixels and costs less than 6 euros.
Users can view hardware utilization, temperatures, and network utilization, among other things. The screen only requires a USB 2.0 connection for power and to query system data. CNX Software discovered it on the Chinese trading platform Aliexpress – The €6 price includes shipping and taxes.

WeAct Studio offers its own "System Monitor" software to control the display. According to the shop page, the display only supports Windows operating systems, but the WeAct Studio System Monitor is based on the open-source Python project Turing Smart Screen, which also runs on Linux and macOS. So, if you're handy, you should be able to get the display to work there too.
Alternatively, there is the WeAct Studio Screen Projection, which allows users to display a logo on the screen, for example. However, given the resolution and size, interested parties should not expect any visual revelations here.

Beware of short circuits
WeAct Studio does not adhere 100% to USB specifications: the connector housing around the USB contacts is missing, allowing users to plug the display in the desired direction. To prevent short circuits, users must attach a self-adhesive pad on one side.
Those who prefer a slightly larger display can alternatively purchase a 3.5-inch display with the same functionality from WeAct. This is not plugged directly into a USB port, but connected via cable. Including shipping and taxes, the screen currently costs just under 15 euros.
