Try out award-winning VR games for free: VR Forever Fest launches on Steam
With the âVR Forever Festivalâ, Steam is showcasing the best VR games. Included are over 130 curated titles, numerous demos, discounts, and awards.
The "VR Forever Fest" aims to provide a curated overview of worthwhile VR games on Steam.

The first-ever "VR Forever Festival" on Steam will run from September 18 to 23, 2025, and is intended as a curated showcase for high-quality VR titles. A total of over 90 VR studios are participating, including well-known representatives such as Resolution Games, nDreams, Owlchemy Labs, and Flat2VR Studios. The event is organized by the VR label Creature and the agency Future Friends Games.
The jury also includes well-known names from the VR industry. The winners were selected by an eight-member panel that included Ed Lago and Doug North Cook from Creature, Owlchemy Labs CEO Andrew Eiche, and Henry Stockdale from the industry blog UploadVR.
In addition to discounts and playable demos, the event aims to recognize outstanding VR games. The "VR Forever Awards 2025" were presented in six categories â for Game of the Year, Best Social Experience and Most Anticipated Game, among others.
Game of the Year is a modelling clay adventure
The jury honoured "The Midnight Walk" as the best VR game of the year â a dark stop-motion adventure with clay animations, puzzles, and surreal landscapes. The title of "most anticipated game" went to the VR adventure "Reach," which focuses on physics-based action with full body representation and cinematic staging. Reach is being developed by nDreams. Its release is scheduled for October 16, 2025.

"Walkabout Mini Golf VR" received the award for best social experience. The popular VR hit impresses with realistic physics, atmospheric fantasy courses, and a lively community. The classic "Moss: Book II" was awarded for single players â a platform adventure in diorama perspective, in which players follow Quill the mouse on a fairytale journey. The recently released "Job Simulator" for Apple Vision Pro was honoured as an "All Time Classic" â a humorous VR sandbox game in which players simulate human professions such as chef or car mechanic in a robot museum.

"The Under Presents," an experimental VR theatre, was also honoured as a "hidden gem" for its originality. Players move around in a surreal stage world, meet live actors, and experience nonlinear stories without fixed goals.

Our recommendation: Four demos to try out
Accompanying the awards, the festival offers over 130 VR games, many of which have playable demos. These include "Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate" â a graphically opulent time-travel adventure with eye tracking, realistic body avatars, and interactive puzzles set in historical eras. Also, available to play: the dark claymation adventure and Game of the Year award winner "The Midnight Walk," the adrenaline-fuelled sci-fi music action game "Thrasher," and the cosy model-building puzzle "Puzzling Places" from Berlin-based studio Realities.io.
