Users of the DB Navigator app should see a new tab in the app over the next few days. Under the "Environment" tab, it will now be possible to rent e-scooters and bicycles or view public transport connections.

This makes the Deutsche Bahn app even more of an all-in-one solution, covering not only train journeys from station to station, but also the last mile, the last few meters to your home.

According to Deutsche Bahn, the app not only displays all stops and stations near the user, but also available bicycles and scooters in the immediate vicinity.

In the new "Surroundings" feature, DB Navigator users can select a mode of transportation for the "last mile."

If you select a specific station in the "Ă–PV" tab, you will see an overview of the next departures as well as arrivals. The "Bicycle" and "Scooter" tabs show the available means of transport in the vicinity. Users can also display the walking distance to their chosen means of transport in the map view.

Bicycles and scooters cannot be rented via the navigator; users must install the respective provider's app and book their trip there. In the map view in the upper half of the application, the app also offers a QR code scanner to unlock the vehicle. This will probably also take you to the respective provider's app.

The range of partner companies is quite manageable: if you want to continue your journey by bike, the app only offers bikes from Deutsche Bahn subsidiary Call-a-Bike, while e-scooters are only available from Dott-Tier. Given that the providers' business areas are limited, users may not be offered a last-mile solution in the app.

Deutsche Bahn is "fundamentally" interested in expanding its partnerships with sharing providers. However, Deutsche Bahn is currently unable to provide specific details and timelines for further integrations.
