Nature, striking contrasts, and urban drama: the images of week
From delicate details of nature to monumental architecture— –, our gallery photographers showcase the full range of moods, structures, and perspectives.
In addition to tranquil snapshots of nature, there are also monumental architectural images on display. This week, the photographic journey ranges from a delicate pair of mushrooms in the forest to the bright full moon at the Elbphilharmonie concert hall to a lively portrait of a dog amid blooming heather. Sometimes nature is shown in detail, such as in the structure of a savoy cabbage leaf or the soft flow of a waterfall, sometimes in striking close-ups, such as the intense gaze of a turkey. The arc closes with a wide beach scene in the warm evening light, showing how differently moods and perspectives can be captured.
Just the two of us

Two mushrooms rise from the forest floor on their delicate, dark stems, framed by a soft bokeh background in warm autumn tones. Their slightly frayed gills and fine cobwebs give the motif a somewhat morbid touch. Among the dry autumn leaves, feddy's image seems like a quiet moment of nature observation.

A red full moon rises above the striking silhouette of the Elbphilharmonie, creating an impressive visual drama. Here, the photographer combines technical expertise with perfect timing. The curved roofline of the concert hall contrasts with the round shape of the moon in the night sky. Warmly lit windows break through the dark façade and add a lively accent. The photograph brings together an architectural icon with a rare natural spectacle in an atmospherically dense composition that radiates both tranquility and grandeur.
"Like many photographers, I left my original location at the fish market in St. Pauli and walked along the LandungsbrĂĽcken towards the Elphi. I changed my position twice for the photo to reduce the distance between the moon and the Elphi," reports gallery photographer Nalois.
Heath shoot with Elly
(Image:Â Peter-Engel-Photographie)
A small Münsterländer sits in the middle of the colorful heath and looks attentively into the camera. The warm light in the background and the purple flowers in the foreground create a harmonious mood. The animal appears relaxed and friendly, its shiny coat contrasting sharply with its surroundings. The shallow depth of field puts the focus clearly on the dog, making this animal portrait by Peter-Engel-Photographie particularly expressive.
Wirsing 2 – Inside
(Image:Â khan)
Fine droplets of water lie on the veins of a savoy cabbage leaf and reflect the light like small glass beads. The strong structure of the foliage with its veins and folds gives the motif an interesting texture and depth. The combination of rich green and the shiny drops conveys freshness and naturalness. This macro shot by gallery photographer khan brings the plant world particularly close to the viewer.
Waterfall
(Image:Â camera66)
Streams of water run down dark rocks in several streams. The long exposure time used here by photographer camera66 makes the water appear soft and almost like mist. The contrasts between the light-colored water surfaces and the dark rocks lend depth to the shot. Small light reflections add accents and soften the structure.
Bronze pute
(Image:Â Rolf Fries)
This intense portrait by gallery photographer Rolf Fries shows the head of a turkey in a detailed close-up. The unusual texture of its skin with its strong red and blue tones forms a strong contrast to its dark plumage. The warm background lends the motif additional depth and emphasizes the animal's striking structure. The tight composition in portrait format further emphasizes the fascinating, almost sculptural effect of the head.
Evening mood
(Image:Â Uschi Hermann)
As the day draws to a close, the sky comes together with the calm sea in warm orange and violet tones on the horizon. Three people stand on this expansive beach and appear quite small in contrast to its vastness. Their silhouettes leave room for stories: Encounters, silence or a farewell in the light of the sunset. The scenery conveys a sense of calm that pervades the entire picture – almost as if time had stopped for a moment.
Gallery photographer Uschi Hermann comments on her shot: "I took this photo on a quiet evening on the beach at Sankt Peter-Ording. The atmospheric light and endless expanse are fascinating, simple, and timelessly beautiful."
