Samsung started the update to One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 series at the beginning of last week. Since then, the manufacturer has started to provide numerous other models with the update based on Android 16. In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 foldables, the update is also being rolled out to the top 2024 models in the Galaxy S24 series. One model in the Galaxy A series, the Galaxy A56, also appears to be receiving fresh software.
It has been clear for some time that Samsung will provide these devices with the new OS version, as the manufacturer promises Android updates for many of its smartphones for five to seven years. In addition, Samsung has already offered beta versions for these models to try out. The final updates for One UI 8 are now available, but initially in Samsung's home country of South Korea.
It should only be a matter of days or weeks before the fresh software lands on the local models. The update process for the last update to One UI 7, which has been successively distributed for many devices since the beginning of April, was already quite swift.
One UI 8 for many devices by the end of the year
The smartphones that have now been updated are part of a long list of other models that should receive One UI 8 in the course of this year. The other products include numerous smartphone models from the Galaxy A series, some tablet generations, and the Galaxy S23 and S22 series.

According to Samsung, the new One UI version includes “multimodal intelligence to understand context in real time and make everyday interactions smarter and more convenient.” Samsung also promises that the functions introduced with One UI 7, such as Now Bar and Now Brief, will display “more personalized insights and suggestions.” Among other things, users can expect the live update function announced by Google.
While Samsung is providing its existing devices with One UI 8, there are indications that the company is already working on One UI version 8.5, which is expected to make its debut in the Galaxy S26 series, which is expected to be launched in early 2026. According to a leak, Samsung may have taken some inspiration from Apple's iOS 26 when designing the next version.
