Microsoft is releasing its “Flight Simulator 2024” on the Playstation. Owners of Playstation 5 will be able to fly on the Sony console from 8 December, the Japanese company announced on Wednesday evening during a “State of Play” livestream.
In a blog entry, the developers of “Flight Simulator” promise, among other things, support for Sony's Dualsense controller: different ground surfaces should lead to noticeably different resistances in the adaptive triggers, and air traffic control announcements will be played back via the gamepad's speakers. Support for Sony's PS VR2 headset is even planned. However, the corresponding update will not be released until 2026.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was one of the few remaining in-house developments from the Xbox teams that were not available on Playstation. Last year, Microsoft initiated a change in strategy and began bringing its former exclusive titles to the Playstation competition from Sony.

Microsoft has repeatedly emphasized that there will still be further Xbox generations. Irrespective of this, Microsoft wants to define the Xbox more as a flexible platform that can be accessed from all devices—for example, for example via cloud gaming on mobile phones or mobile consoles such as the Xbox Ally.
