The Azure Marketplace for cloud solutions and AppSource, which specializes in AI apps and agents, are being merged under a new label: Microsoft Marketplace. Microsoft has long offered various marketplaces for companies in its ecosystem. For cloud solutions, this has so far been the Azure Marketplace, while Microsoft AppSource exists for everything to do with productivity and, more recently, AI tools. The former contains tens of thousands of cloud applications that offer a wide range from analytics, collaboration, and productivity to industry-specific applications. The Redmond-based company is now integrating the two sites under a new banner: Microsoft Marketplace.

Launching now in the USA, the Microsoft Marketplace offers over 3,000 free and paid AI apps and agents. These include products that extend Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure AI Foundry, Microsoft's platform for building and managing AI apps and agents. For many of these tools and services, deployment simply means integrating a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. However, the Marketplace is also open to third-party providers and can be integrated into their Marketplace offerings via the partner program. The first candidates here are Arrow, Crayon, Ingram Micro, Pax8 and TD SYNNEX.

In its announcement, Microsoft enthuses about the many opportunities for companies to combine human ambition with AI-supported technologies to achieve greater innovation. With the redesigned Marketplace, the aim is to offer pioneers of this approach a trustworthy source for cloud and AI apps and AI agents. Thanks to the integration of channel partners' marketplaces, customers can meet their needs where they want, be it with the cloud service provider or via a partner who procures the desired products on behalf of the customer.
