The best VR games in October 2025: "Star Wars", "Reach", "Memoreum" and more
From sci-fi horror in space to Star Wars in the living room and poetic pixel dream worlds: VR October has it all.
A real VR blockbuster, "Reach", will be released in October.

VR fans can look forward to the coming weeks, as a whole series of exciting titles will be released in October. With the survival horror “Memoreum,” the VR blockbuster “Reach,” and the long-awaited ports of “Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate” (PC VR) and “Arken Age” (Meta Quest), four ambitious action adventures for VR goggles are on the cards. The line-up is complemented by the mixed reality experience “Star Wars: Beyond Victory” and the experimental “Dreams of Another.” All titles have a different focus—from physically demanding climbing challenges and nerve-wracking horror to philosophical musings on visibility and meaning.
Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate
The remake of the time travel adventure “Wanderer,” which was released in 2022, has been available for Playstation VR 2 and Meta Quest since the beginning of April. The PC VR version was a long time coming but is now finally due to be released. In the role of Asher Neumann, players travel through historical eras to correct past events.

On Playstation VR 2, the title impressed with its consistently high resolution, realistic light and water effects, as well as stable performance without reprojection and foveated rendering with eye tracking. The Quest version also offers solid graphics despite technical limitations, but has to do without many visual effects. VR fans will find out how the PC VR version performs on October 23, 2025.
Arken Age
Virtuvius VR, the studio known for 'Shadow Legend', released one of the best VR games of the year in January. “Arken Age” is a sci-fi adventure that was previously only available on PS VR 2 and PC VR with a focus on physics-based combat, exploration, and weapon modding. An alien world wants to be freed from hostile robots and lets players explore 25 linear areas.

The battles against sometimes gigantic machine creatures allow the simultaneous use of melee and ranged weapons, which can be equipped with mods at workbenches. “Arken Age” impressed on PC and PS VR 2 above all with its outstanding graphics and performance. Whether the mobile version for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S will generate similar wow moments will be revealed on October 30, 2025.
Memoreum
Anyone who has always wanted to experience “Dead Space” in virtual reality can look forward to October 9.“Memoreum” is strongly reminiscent of EA's 2008 survival horror classic, both in terms of atmosphere and gameplay. Dr. Otto Hudson wakes up in the year 2311 in a contaminated spaceship that has been taken over by the hostile biomass “Ichor.” The crew has mutated and lies in wait for him in the dark corridors. While exploring the ship, grotesque creatures have to be defeated, switch puzzles solved, and background information found.

As in “Dead Space,” horror fans have to concentrate on special points on the disfigured bodies, which are marked by glowing pustules. In addition to classic weapons such as shotguns and submachine guns, tools such as cable detectors and a flame cutter are also used. The developers Patient 8 Games and 2080 Games are also planning versions for PC-VR and PSVR 2, but for now, “Memoreum” will only be released for Meta Quest.
Star Wars: Beyond Victory
On October 7, “Star Wars: Beyond Victory” will be released, a mixed reality experience for true fans of the Star Wars. Lucasfilm and ILMxLAB combine adventure, arcade, and sandbox elements and tell a new adventure in a story campaign at the time of the Galactic Empire with well-known characters such as Sebulba and Grakkus the Hutt.

In Arcade mode, players control the popular Podracers from Episode 1 from a top-down view over a diorama track. The highlight is the Playset mode: Here, digital action figures such as Darth Vader or R2-D2 are placed freely in the room, scaled, animated, and equipped with props. The mode is based on tools that were originally used for film pre-production. “Star Wars: Beyond Victory” will be released exclusively for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
Reach
“Reach” is the first project from nDreams' new studio Elevation and will be released for Meta Quest, PS VR2, and PC VR. In the action-packed adventure, an unwilling hero explores a forgotten civilization underground. nDreams describes “Reach” as their most ambitious project to date, and according to studio head Glenn Brace, every action will have a direct impact on the environment. Players can look forward to physics-based movements such as climbing, jumping, or ziplining, close and long-range combat against gigantic creatures, and challenging puzzles.

We have now played “Reach” twice. The course and climbing passages are superbly implemented and offer a high degree of presence thanks to natural controls and the representation of the whole body. The underground temples are particularly fascinating, where mythological weapons and tools are used to solve environmental puzzles. Here, “Reach” scores with sharp textures, atmospheric lighting effects, and sophisticated level design. However, we were less convinced by a short section in “reality,” in which we had to defend ourselves with boring firearms against sluggish mercenaries in an uninspired tube level. We will find out on October 16 whether nDreams succeeds in creating a well-balanced VR adventure.

Dreams of Another
“Dreams of Another” by Q-Games, the studio behind Pixel Junk Eden, will be released on October 10 for Playstation 5 with VR mode for PS VR2. The experimental adventure game is based on a mixture of poetry, absurdity, and philosophical monologues. In a surreal dream world, players shoot away pixelated clouds of fog to make the surroundings visible—in line with the recurrent theme “Visibility means existence,” which runs through the entire experience in terms of game mechanics and narrative. The philosophical story and the unusual point-cloud graphic style make “Dreams of Another” an idiosyncratic experience away from conventional gaming systems.
