As part of its hardware event in New York, Amazon also announced news for its Ring and Blink brands. While Ring customers in Germany and Austria will initially be interested in the fact that they can now use "Ring Smart Video Search", Blink's "Blink Arc", which merges a video image from two cameras, stands out in particular.
Amazon is thus also introducing "Ring Smart Video Search" for German-speaking users. Previously, there were already parcel, person, and motion alerts that recorded activities outside the front door, but now the search for specific events in the tasks has been added. With the help of Visual Language Modelling (VLM), specific moments can be found by entering text in the recording.
Smart search
This is intended to provide a better overview of all activities around the home or business – whether it's searching for the time of a parcel delivery or the cause of overturned garbage cans.
Ring Smart Video Search is compatible with all Ring video doorbells and cameras and is available to all customers with an active Ring Home Premium subscription. The Ring Premium subscription costs 19.99 euros per month or 199.99 euros per year.
Initially limited to the US market is a person recognition feature and a function called "Search Party", in which the network of Ring video doorbells can be used to find lost dogs using AI.

"Blink Arc" combines two Blink Mini 2K+ cameras to create a seamless video image. With just one power connection and one mounting point, Arc offers "Blink Plus" subscribers a 180-degree panoramic view. Thanks to a resolution of nearly 6 megapixels, Amazon says the system is suitable for large indoor areas and – provided it has a weatherproof power supply – outdoor areas where seamless coverage in a single view is desired.. For example, users can keep an eye on children playing in the driveway, pets in the garden or incoming deliveries.
The system is available to order now. A bundle of two Blink Mini 2K+ and the mount costs 99.99 Euro.
