Disney wants to bring a little more order to the brand chaos of Disney+ with a redesign of the TV app: In the future, the individual channel categories available via Disney+ will be displayed at the top of the screen. This is particularly interesting in the USA, where the sports channel ESPN, for example, can be obtained via Disney+. In Germany, in addition to the standard Disney+ tab, Hulu in particular is likely to be available. The Disney brand will replace the Star section in the future.

By default, Disney+ will open on a new “For You” tab with the upcoming redesign. In the announcement of the redesign, Disney writes that this new homepage will be put together based on an improved recommendation algorithm. In addition to the content selection and the basic organization, the look has also changed. The banners that previously adorned the Disney+ home screen have been replaced by autoplay videos.

When starting Disney+, users will in the future see an automatically playing trailer for content that Disney considers to be recommended. The navigation elements and tiles for other content will remain visible in the foreground. It is not clear from the announcement whether autoplay videos can be switched off.

It is also unclear when the redesign will ultimately reach users. Disney writes that the new TV interface is the first step in the development of a standardized app for all platforms, the release of which is planned for next year.

Disney recently increased the German prices for Disney+ again: the standard subscription with ads now costs 7 Euro per month instead of the previous 6 Euro, while the standard subscription costs 11 Euro instead of 10 Euro. Those wishing to book the premium subscription will pay 16 instead of 14 euros. The annual prices are slightly cheaper: if you book for 12 months, you can get the standard subscription for 110 euros and the premium subscription for 160 Euro.
