The return of the pink leather jacket? Warner has announced a sequel to the “Minecraft” cinema film released in spring. The film is due to be released in cinemas on 23 July 2027, Warner explains. A teaser image shows just two pickaxes on a workbench.
“A Minecraft Movie” was released in cinemas in April 2025. After the first trailer was met with a rather enthusiastic response from “Minecraft” fans, the finished film became a hit, raking in almost a billion US dollars at the box office. Considering this, there was no alternative to a sequel. A second part was therefore expected in Hollywood, according to the industry magazine Variety.
Not too many changes are to be expected compared to the first part: Jares Hess returns as director, and Jason Momoa becomes producer. It is still unclear whether he will also take on an acting role again. Warner Bros. is currently keeping a low profile with further information.

Second “Mario” film also in the works
In addition to the second installment of “A Minecraft Movie,” video game fans can also look forward to the sequel to another gaming blockbuster: a few weeks ago, Nintendo announced that the “Mario” film is also to get a second installment. “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” is due to be released in cinemas in April 2026, Nintendo announced. “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” follows on from the “Super Mario Bros.” film, which Nintendo released in cinemas in 2023. The animation studio Illumination is once again producing Part 2. The actors from the first part are also set to return, including Chris Pratt as Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach in the English language version.
Nintendo's “Mario” film was even more successful than the “Minecraft” flick, raking in over a billion US dollars at the box office.
