Uno Platform 6.3 brings preview support for .NET 10.0 and Visual Studio 2026

Uno Platform 6.3 has been released with preview support for .NET 10.0. The open-source cross-platform GUI framework for .NET is not only preparing for the .NET release planned for November, but also already offers compatibility with Visual Studio 2026.

New target framework .NET 10.0

In addition to support for the current, stable version .NET 9.0, Uno Platform now also offers preview support for .NET 10.0 Release Candidate 1. According to Microsoft, the final release with long-term support is scheduled for 11 November 2025. .NET 10.0 can be selected directly as the target framework in the Uno Platform wizard:

It should be noted that the interaction with .NET 10.0 as a target is currently not suitable for production. Stable production apps should remain with .NET 9.0 until the official .NET 10.0 release. The Uno Platform team offers a migration guide for the migration to version 10.0.

Heise conference on .NET 10.0

Improved classes in .NET 10.0, Native AOT with Entity Framework Core 10.0 and more: .NET professionals will be providing information on these topics at the online conference betterCode() .NET 10.0 on 18 November 2025, followed by six full-day workshops on topics such as C# 14.0, artificial intelligence and web APIs.

Meanwhile, support for .NET 8.0 has been cancelled. This is the current LTS release with support until November 2026, but .NET MAUI 8.0 has already reached its end-of-life date in May 2025, which is why Uno Platform is moving away from this .NET version.

Ready for Visual Studio 2026

Visual Studio 2026, the next major version of Microsoft's development environment, is available in an insider programme. Uno Platform is also preparing for the new version and is compatible with its updates, including the new .slnx format as a more understandable replacement for .sln files. Uno Platform 6.3 is also still compatible with Visual Studio 2022, so Uno Platform users can use both versions. Just like support for .NET 10.0, support for Visual Studio 2026 is also labelled as a preview.

Other new features in Uno Platform 6.3 include the visual designer Hot Design, which is included in the paid-for Uno Platform Studio. Graphics-heavy apps with WebAssembly should now also work more smoothly and the TabView should be more consistent and reliable across different target platforms.
