Fritzbox 5630 and 5630 XGS for Fiber Optic Connections
The two Fritzbox models 5630 and 5630 XGS are very similar to the 5590 model. They support Wi-Fi 7 instead of 6, but in a simplified form.

New trade show, new router announcements: Fritz (formerly AVM) is showcasing the two Fritzbox models 5630 and 5630 XGS at Network X in Paris. Both feature an SFP(+) slot for fiber optic modems, making them suitable for direct connection to fiber optics without an additional provider device.
The Fritzbox 5630 supports the widely used connection types Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) with 2.5 gigabits per second and Active Optical Network (AON) with up to 1 Gbit/s. The XGS model exclusively works with even faster XGS-PON connections of up to 10 Gbit/s symmetrically. The remaining technology appears to be, according to the announcement, identical.
Wi-Fi 7 Without Speed Records
The specifications are similar to the previous fiber optic Fritzbox 5590 from the upper mid-range. The biggest difference lies in the WLAN: the 5630 models support Wi-Fi 7, but only in a simplified form with two MIMO streams per band and without 6 GHz radio.
This allows the Fritzbox to theoretically achieve up to 2880 Mbit/s in the 5 GHz band. The 20 percent advantage over the Fritzbox 5590 comes from the finer Wi-Fi 7 data modulation, but is only effective when close to the router. The 5590 box achieves 2400 Mbit/s over four MIMO streams with 80 MHz channel width instead of 160 MHz. In the case of mesh WLANs, one combination or the other might be more sensitive, depending on how many MIMO streams the repeaters support.
The 2.4 GHz WLAN of the 5630 Fritzbox is slower than that of the Fritzbox 5590 due to half the number of MIMO streams. It achieves only 688 instead of 1200 Mbit/s at peak.

The remaining specifications are largely similar. It includes a 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet port, which also functions as a WAN port if a provider device is used in addition. Three other Ethernet ports transmit at one gigabit per second.
A USB-A port (5 Gbit/s, USB 3.2 Gen 1, formerly called USB 3.0), for example for printers or a NAS hard drive, DECT telephony, and the usual smart home functions in FritzOS complete the package.
