Easy page turning when you don't have the e-reader in your hand: that's what the Tolino Flip is good for, and it can be pre-ordered for €30.

The Tolino Alliance has announced a remote control for some of its e-readers. With the Tolino Flip, you can turn virtual pages without having to hold the reader in your hand. This can be practical if the reader is attached to a device such as a stand. However, the gadget could also help people with motor impairments, writes Tolino.
The gadget, which can be pre-ordered for 30 euros, is an elongated stick that is said to weigh just under 50 grams and is equipped with two buttons of different sizes: the larger button turns forward, and the slightly smaller button below it goes back one page. The remote control connects to the e-reader via Bluetooth. The proprietary readers Tolino Vision Color, Tolino Shine Color, and Tolino Shine 5 are explicitly compatible.
Other Tolino models are incompatible, warns the manufacturer. Accordingly, e-readers from independent companies are also unlikely to work properly with the Tolino remote control, even though they could connect in principle thanks to Bluetooth. The remote control can also connect to mobile phones or tablets. However, problems may also occur in this case, writes Tolino. For example, when connecting to iPhones or iPads, the on-screen keyboard may no longer function.
Battery-powered remote control
The Tolino Flip is powered by a replaceable AAA battery; the device does not have a rechargeable battery. According to Tolino, a single battery can operate the remote control for months. Via the Bluetooth connection, Tolino promises a range of up to 20 meters—but reading on the reader at such distances is difficult even with binoculars. Tolino specifies the exact dimensions as 9.96 cm × 2.21 cm × 3.00 cm.

In addition to the remote control and a battery, the 30 Euro package also includes a carrying strap that allows you to secure the remote control to your wrist. According to Tolino, the first own e-reader remote control is partly made from recycled materials. It is available in black and white. The Tolino Flip will be delivered in November.
