French manufacturer Withings is launching the BPM Vision, a smart blood pressure monitor with an HD display. The 2.8-inch (approx. 7 cm) color screen is designed to simplify measurements by guiding the user step-by-step. The smart device also allows for the detection of possible heart valve diseases using ECG measurements. Withings is offering the BPM Vision for 180 Euros.

This is even cheaper than the smart blood pressure monitor Withings BPM Core, launched in 2019 for 250 Euros, which only had an LED matrix. This device could also measure and analyze heart rates in addition to blood pressure to find possible indications of heart valve diseases. This year's vital monitor Withings BeamO, which appeared more than half a year late also offers an ECG but is primarily marketed as the "thermometer of the future".

The BPM Vision now joins these products as an intelligent blood pressure monitor. According to the company announcement it combines blood pressure measurements and atrial fibrillation detection in one device. This is intended to simplify the monitoring of one's own heart health. The connected HD display also helps with this, as it is supposed to provide clear visual instructions for operation and the measurement process. While blood pressure is measured via an arm cuff, an ECG is performed by placing fingers on sensors next to the screen.

The measurement data is automatically synchronized with the Withings app, which is available for iOS and Android. This allows it to be evaluated and monitored over a longer period. This can also help during doctor's visits, when the specialist staff can be presented with the relevant history. In addition, the manufacturer offers Withings+, a paid subscription that includes a cardio check-up up to four times a year, during which certified cardiologists evaluate the measurements taken by the user.

The subscription is not necessary for using the BPM Vision, but a one-month free trial of Withings+ is included with the purchase. For the BeamO, there were still three months of free access to this service, which, in addition to the cardio check-up, also offers the "Withings Health Assistant" available around the clock. According to the manufacturer, this provides personal answers to health questions and individual recommendations.

According to Withings, the BPM Vision has been medically tested, with the accuracy of blood pressure measurements confirmed by a clinical study with 91 test subjects. The device is said to offer a battery life of one year and can be recharged in less than six hours via USB-C. Withings is offering the BPM Vision on its own website for 180 Euros, but it is expected to be available soon on Amazon and other retailers.
