IPTV platform Zattoo now displays content from the ARD media library. Films, series, and documentaries from ARD are integrated as links into Zattoo interface.
Users of the IPTV platform Zattoo can now also directly access content from the ARD media library. Zattoo and ARD announced this in a joint statement. Films, series, documentaries, and other ARD programs are seamlessly integrated into the Zattoo interface but can only be watched in the ARD media library or the ARD app. The content is only linked; if you click on ARD content in Zattoo, it opens in the ARD app or in the media library in the browser.

This linking is therefore a relatively discreet integration of ARD films and series. The integrated content is available in the browser on Apple and Android devices—both on smartphones and TV boxes. Fire TV devices also support the linked ARD content, and other smart TVs are to receive the function successively.
“Forward-looking and user-friendly offerings are at the core of our strategy,” comments Zattoo CEO Roger Elsener on the collaboration. “Therefore, we are all the more pleased about the expansion of our long-standing, trusting partnership with ARD.”
“Cooperation on an equal footing”
ARD Chairman Florian Hager, meanwhile, speaks of a “real breakthrough” and a “cooperation on an equal footing.” This can be understood as a jab at the ProSiebenSat.1 platform Joyn, which had embedded content from public broadcasters natively into its apps at the beginning of the year without permission and unwanted. ARD resisted this and finally achieved that ProSiebenSat.1 ended the practice in March.
