Whiskers provides cat lovers with special tools to monitor their cat's health: the AI litter box Litter-Robot 5 Pro, as well as two more stripped-down models including the cloud service Whisker+ for analyzing the cat's toilet habits. The litter boxes largely clean themselves, but are also not exactly cheap.

Litter-Robot 5 Pro is Whiskers' top model and replaces its predecessor, the Litter-Robot 4. The litter box cleans itself after the cat has used it, by means of a rotating sieve that filters out feces or solidified urine from the litter and disposes of it in a sealed, now larger, container. The Litter-Robot 5 Pro uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to identify the type of feces and controls the time until the disposal process begins. While feces are disposed of immediately, the machine waits a little longer for urine so that the litter can solidify around the urine first. This is intended to help minimize odor.

In addition to the improved sieve and disposal unit, the litter box now has an LC display directly on the device. This allows cat lovers to see directly when, for example, the container needs to be emptied. With the predecessor, cryptic LEDs indicated this, or the cat owner had to use an app. The latter is still available, however.

The app also serves to track the cat's toilet habits and thus its health. Two night-vision-capable, AI-powered cameras, one at the front of the device to recognize the cat, the other inside, recording the litter bed and feces, provide the necessary data. Up to five different cats can be identified this way via the front camera and facial recognition. Additionally, for cats that look similar, paid Whisker PetTags with RFID technology can be integrated into the system to differentiate the cats more reliably. However, the tag must be attached to the cat. It can also be provided with exact information about the cat and its owner. If the cat gets lost, finders can scan the tag, identify the owner, and return the cat.

The camera inside the high-tech litter box records when and how often the cat successfully completed its toilet visit. Additionally, the cat's weight is measured. A routine can be read from the daily summaries of the data. If this routine is disturbed, the cat might be sick. However, no AI analysis of the data takes place.

Additionally, cat owners can watch their cats live via stream in the app using the cameras. The clips are also recorded. However, some functions are only available with the additional paid subscription Whisker+. These include unlimited video recording and information on how many times a day a cat uses the AI litter box. The subscription costs $7.99 per month or $79.90 annually.

In contrast to the Litter-Robot 5 Pro, the price of the subscription is still quite moderate: the AI litter box costs $899. However, Whisker also offers stripped-down versions with limited functionality. The Litter-Robot 5 costs $799 but has no camera for video recording. The smaller Litter-Robot Evo is available for $599 and has no cameras at all. It also lacks the LCD, litter level measurement, and automatic night light. All three devices will be available from November 3, 2025.
