Japanese manufacturer Fujitsu has unveiled several notebooks that are a rarity in this country in 2025: Two models have a maintenance flap on the underside to replace the internal battery without tools. Nevertheless, the models are lightweight. A third model still comes with a side-mounted optical drive. However, Fujitsu usually sells its notebooks exclusively in Japan.
The WU8-K3 uses a 13.3-inch IPS touch panel in 16:10 format with 1920 Ă— 1200 pixels. The most powerful configurations use a 63-watt-hour battery and weigh just over one kilogram. Despite its larger 14-inch display, the WU7-K3 is around 100 grams lighter; the most powerful configuration with a 63-watt-hour battery also weighs 917 grams, according to Fujitsu. The chassis is of similar size, with the 8 series having larger screen bezels.

Both notebooks use processors from Intel's Arrow Lake series: depending on the configuration, the 12-core Core Ultra 5 Processor 225U, the 14-core Core Ultra 5 225H, or the 16-core Core Ultra 7 255H. RAM ranges from 8 to 32 GB, and the NVMe SSD from 256 GB to 2 TB.
Further features include USB4 on both notebooks. Even RJ-45 ports for Ethernet cable connections are on board. The notebooks connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi 7. The WU7-K3 is optionally available with a 5G mobile module.
In terms of price, both notebooks start at 179,800 yen, which is approximately 1015 euros. This includes the smallest processor options (Core Ultra 5 225U or 225H), 8 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD, the small 47 Wh battery variant, and Windows 11 Home. Factory storage upgrades are expensive: Fujitsu charges an additional 125 euros for 16 GB RAM.

16-inch model with Blu-ray drive
In a Japanese announcement, Fujitsu has also announced an Intel version of the A77-K3, a 16-inch notebook with an IPS display (1920 × 1200 pixels) and the not-so-fresh Intel Core i5-1335U. The special feature is on the side: Fujitsu has installed an optical Blu-ray drive – an exceptional appearance in 2025.
An AMD version with an equally older Ryzen 7 7735U, 16 GB RAM, and a 512 GB SSD costs around 1210 euros. The device weighs about 1.9 kilograms.
