It's possible that many Amiga gift vouchers will be under the Christmas tree this year: Retro Games LTD., which has launched many other retro reissues in addition to TheA500 Mini and TheC64 Maxi, aims to land the next big hit with TheA1200 next year together with Plaion: An Amiga in original size with a working keyboard and modern features such as an HDMI output for current screens and USB ports for accessories.
They promise a journey back to the 1990s with the comfort and optimized image rendering of the 2020s. The computer is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2026 and will be available for pre-order from November 10, 2025 for 190 Euros.
The A1200 package includes the classic Amiga tank mouse and a gamepad, as well as 25 games, the list of which is not yet complete. While the keyboard is said to be fully functional, a floppy drive is not included – the games can be launched from the device.

The titles revealed so far are impressive: In addition to adventures like "Beneath A Steel Sky" and "Lure of the Temptress", a fast-paced shooter called "Ruff'N'Tumble", the classics "Defender of the Crown I & II" and especially the legendary Turrican trilogy stand out. Furthermore, it was announced at Amiga40 that the recently released Amiga version of the classic "The Settlers II" will also be included.
None of the games were previously included with the A500 Mini, and in terms of names, this offers more quality than at the time of the Mini-Amiga's release. A feature that many missed with the TheA500 Mini is integrated this time: Workbench, the groundbreaking graphical user interface of the Amiga, is pre-installed from the start.
Amiga with 256 Colors
The Commodore Amiga 1200, which resembled the Amiga 500 released the previous year as a keyboard computer in 1992, but was technically overhauled: With a Motorola 68020 CPU, two megabytes of RAM, and especially the AGA chipset, which, similar to VGA, enabled the display of 256 colors simultaneously, the Amiga was intended to regain ground against PCs and consoles. While this was only partially successful, the 1200 is still considered the best gaming device today due to its good expandability. It also likely offered itself as the preferred maxi version because, compared to the rather bulky Amiga 500, it has much more compact dimensions.

Just as incomplete as the game list are the technical specifications – it is announced that the games will feel exactly as you remember them, but with an HDMI screen, four different save states each, and USB sideloading. Retro Games CEO Darren Melbourne recently confirmed on stage that the TheA120 is the most powerful machine Retro Games has ever brought to market. If they follow the concepts of previous retro consoles, the Amiga gaming experience will also be recreated here via an ARM SoC system.
Retro Games already has a lot of experience with retro devices for the living room. TheA500 Mini looked optically like a shrunk original Amiga 500 and the reissue of Atari's VCS 2600, the VCS 2600+ was distinguished by its originality. The devices were recreated with great attention to detail, mirroring the originals.
