After Samsung and Apple, Motorola has now also introduced a slim smartphone with the Moto Edge 70. The manufacturer is not sparing on the battery.

Motorola's Moto Edge 70, at 5.99 mm, is not quite as slim as Apple's iPhone Air (5.6 mm) or Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge (5.8 mm). However, according to the manufacturer, it is less compromised in terms of design, battery, and other features than the competitors' models.
Not as thin as the iPhone Air, but with a larger battery
The Moto Edge 70 features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,712 Ă— 1,220 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The manufacturer states that it can reach up to 4500 CD/m2 brightness at peak and supports HDR+. Motorola has installed Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, manufactured using a 4 nm process and positioned in the mid-range segment. For the German model, Motorola uses 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of flash storage, while other regions offer it with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB.

Despite its slim design, the manufacturer has not compromised on a well-sized battery, unlike competitors: thanks to silicon-carbon cell chemistry, the power storage unit has a capacity of 4,800 mAh and is expected to last up to 50 hours with varied usage and up to 29 hours with continuous video playback. The Edge 70 is said to be chargeable with up to 68 watts via cable or up to 15 watts wirelessly. For comparison: The Galaxy S25 Edge has a 3900 mAh battery that can be charged at up to 25 W; the iPhone Air has a 3149 mAh battery with a charging power of only 20 W.
Motorola is equipping the Edge 70 with three cameras: two on the back, consisting of wide and ultra-wide angle lenses with 50 MP each, and a selfie camera with a 50 MP sensor on the front. According to the manufacturer, the rear also integrates a 3-in-1 light sensor “for better light sensitivity and optimal exposure” as well as an LED light.

Further features of the 159 g light smartphone include stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6e, although the Snapdragon chip also supports Wi-Fi 7, dual-SIM support (1x Nano-SIM + eSIM), and Bluetooth 5.4. Additionally, the Edge 70 is protected against water and dust according to IP68 and P69 ratings. Motorola has also tested the smartphone according to military protection standard MIL-STD-810H – the manufacturer does not specify which tests were performed. Furthermore, Motorola uses Corning's Gorilla Glass 7i to protect the screen.
Motorola ships the Edge 70 with Android 16 and promises four OS updates and six years of security patches upon request from heise online. The slim device is available for pre-order at a price of 800 euros (799.99 euros) already available for order. It is offered in the Pantone colors “Gadget Grey,” “Lily Pad,” and “Bronze Green.”
Moto G57 Power receives no Android updates
In addition to the slim Edge 70, Motorola has also introduced a new model in the G series with a huge battery. The Moto G57 Power features a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 7,000 mAh and is expected to offer a battery life of two days. It can be charged via cable with 30 W.

The device is equipped with a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor and has a 6.72-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. On the back, there is a 50 MP wide-angle camera (Sony Lytia LYT-600) and an 8 MP super wide-angle camera. The front camera also has an 8 MP sensor. Additionally, it is protected against water and dust according to IP64.
The Moto G57 is delivered with Android 16. According to Motorola, the device will not receive further Android updates; the manufacturer only promises three years of security patches for the 250 Euro smartphone. This violates the Ecodesign Regulation of the EU, which came into force on June 20th and mandates at least five years of updates. Motorola, however, considers the requirement optional and not mandatory.
The company states: “The 7-year performance in the EU EPREL database means that 'all software updates we release' will be 'made available free of charge' during this period. However, this does not mean a guaranteed commitment to release updates throughout the entire 7 years. The frequency and availability of updates depend on the specific device.” The manufacturer cites Annex II, B, 1., 1.2 of the EU ErP Ecodesign Regulation (Lot X) supporting this.
