Netflix has released the first five minutes of the fifth season of “Stranger Things.” The series begins with a flashback: a key moment from Season 1 is shown for the first time from Will Byers' perspective. The video does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the plot of the fifth season. Fans will likely be pleased with the insightful change of perspective nonetheless. The video can be seen both on Netflix itself and on YouTube.

Thus, the first five minutes are primarily a teaser for the actual Season 5, the first three episodes of which will be released on November 27. The second bundle of episodes also consists of three individual episodes and will be broadcast on December 26. The final episode of the season is expected on January 1, 2026.
Because Netflix aligns the release of new episodes with the US home market, the times in Germany are sometimes a bit unfavorable. In New York, the final “Stranger Things” episode will be released around 8 p.m. on December 31. So fans can see it before New Year's. In Germany, however, the episode will only be broadcast at 2 a.m. in the new year. The other episodes also appear at 2 a.m.

“Stranger Things” Ends a Decade Later
The first season of “Stranger Things” was broadcast in the summer of 2016 and became a flagship for the then still relatively young streaming service Netflix, which was experimenting with its productions for the first time. Seasons 2 and 3 followed in 2017 and 2019, and Season 4 was released in 2022. Season 5 is set to conclude the story almost ten years later.

For Netflix, the last season of “Stranger Things” could be accompanied by increasing viewer numbers. The US streaming service has one important milestone, particularly in its sights: According to CO-CEO Ted Sarandos, Netflix is on track towards one billion viewers. This differs from the number of subscribers. Netflix assumes that more than one person on average accesses the service in customer households.
